argument
The International Center for Women’s Rights Protection and Promotion “La Strada” considers that volunteering activity is an essential component of civil society. The volunteer’s work brings together individuals of society, and gives them the status of human values and principles defenders.
The qualities of a volunteer, highly appreciated by the “La Strada” Center, are: creativity, innovative ideas, activism, motivation, will to help others, openness, independence, and desire for acquiring new knowledge.
Volunteering doesn’t mean to do the work with frivolity and daftness. To be a volunteer means that one has to work on himself daily, cultivate new abilities, learn, organize and carry out activities, take responsibility, gain experience.
The effect of volunteers’ contribution becomes visible in the organization they work for, volunteers’ friends, community they come from, and the society as a whole. At the same time, volunteering helps young people to obtain and develop abilities that the formal educational system usually cannot offer.

It is not difficult to do; it is only difficult to start
The desire to learn new things and meet new people has brought me in the family of this organization – International Center “La Strada”. I want to mention that volunteering activity gives a lot of sincere satisfaction to the one who wants to get involved in, and gives the opportunity to develop personally by practicing various activities in support to other people.

Don’t let a day pass without you doing something useful for yourself and others!
Once I wished to “change the world”, to make it better, but later I understood that it is impossible. Others tried to do this before me and created monsters. We can make the world better only if we change together with it and when we get actively involved in everything that happens around us. Then we can claim that we don’t live in vain in this world.
Volunteering activity gives us this opportunity; if you don’t want to spend your life in vain, become a volunteer!

They are not good, because they don’t know that they are good. They need to learn that they are good and then all of them will become good at once (F. Dostoevsky)
Volunteering is almost a sacred deed. It means to help others without being paid for this, to do something with all your heart, and aim to change the society. I feel that I am useful, and I realize that these are my first steps towards the adult life.

To live is to choose. But to choose well, you must know who you are and what you stand for, where you want to go and why you want to get there (Kofi Annan)
To win means to step ahead. To be a volunteer at “La Strada” means to make a step ahead every day. Each step is an approach to self-knowledge and, at the same time, a social contribution to prevent trafficking in human beings.

There are no great things, only small things with great love. (Mother Teresa)
Let us be those who will console their soles, by doing small things but with great love for people. Let’s bring a smile to their faces, and even if this is just a moment-lasting smile, the memories of it will last forever…

If we wish to live in a better world, we have to contribute to its creation. (Mahatma Gandhi)
Volunteering activity was like a dream for me - a dream that I wished to transform in reality. Working at the International Center “La Strada”, I understood that mainly through volunteering any person is able to exercise rights and responsibilities of the member of the community and, at the same time, learn and develop multilaterally. While a volunteer, I try consolidating values related to the community, to the service rendered to the nearest ones, in order to contribute to the creation of a better life.

We are not born with a power of success; we can’t predict people foredoomed to victory. However, through hard work and perseverance everything is possible.
From this motto, I can conclude that any achievement in life depends on the deeds of each of us. Volunteering activity kindles “the spark” of success to achieve goals that I have set up for the future. And why not? This, eventually, is my day-to-day life that can colour the time with more optimism and belief in tomorrow.

Why did I choose to be a volunteer? The answer to this question is quite simple – because I want to leave behind a world that would be slightly better.

A way to be careful with others is to think before you speak
Volunteering has become a part of my life, and it characterizes and justifies my actions. It is my ego that feels obliged to do something useful and efficient for those who are around.

Be the change that you want to see in the world. (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi)
Lately, people have consigned the ethic and moral values to the darkness of oblivion. However, by redirecting our thoughts, our actions towards mutual aid, we can renew their necessity and efficiency. Everything starts from each person in part.

I like what I am doing because I am doing it with all my heart!
Actually, compensation is an important stimulus that makes a person act in one way or another. But, in my opinion, volunteering is a totally opposite thing. Volunteer is the person that does lots of things just because he/she likes to do this without asking for compensation in return. This is what I do – things that make my life more exciting, things that fill out the gaps of my daily life and scatter away moments of boredom.

Wave-like things like waves shall pass. (Mihai Eminescu)
For me volunteering is to do something with all my heart and derive enjoyment from it, without expecting something in return. When you can help someone, you feel that you are important, because someone counts on you and your help. A greater pleasure is when you know that someone is happy due to your support.

“Who believes in flight is the master of skyline”, by Lucian Blaga
I for a long time wished to be a volunteer. I had enough ideas, as well as energy and spare time, besides, I also wanted some changes. Since I became a volunteer at the International Center “La Strada”, I understood what means responsibility, I gained experience, and, of course, I found new friends, I visited almost all locations of our republic and talked to different people. Volunteering gave me the opportunity to discover my true personality, and through efforts I managed to obtain success.

The world would be better if we didn’t strive so much for profit
What can I do for the society to make it better? By being a volunteer, I can answer this question. Volunteering is a place to escape from self egoism. It is an assault for the best of the society and its change.

Whatever might happen, fight and you will gain
Volunteering is not just an activity that you do from your own initiative, by using your time to inform people about different phenomena and possible solutions, as a result of which you gain experience, new friends and good mood. Volunteering is the art of giving soul for soul.
