Awareness raising seminars
These activities are among the most efficient in working with the at-risk groups because they involve direct contact between the trainer and the beneficiaries, and therefore it is possible to use interactive methods like role-playing, case study, etc. These techniques permit young people to assimilate the information more efficiently, to obtain specific abilities with which to recognize and to avoid the risk involved with leaving the country, and in this way to fortify a belief in them.
The experience of the International Center "La Strada", shows us that those most vulnerable to trafficking are girls from orphanages, graduates of secondary schools who are not able to study at the university, or graduates of professional schools who fail to find a job. From these reasons, lectures were held in boarding schools, middle schools, secondary schools, professional schools, youth centers, and at summer camps in the rural regions.
Between September 2001 – May 2006, about 30 300 young people participated in 1200 lectures and seminars aimed at prevention. The participants benefited from freely distributed brochures and information.

These prevention-based seminars and lectures were conducted by 4 groups of regional trainers with exceptional experience in communicating with at-risk groups. The prevention activities for the at-risk groups are conducted by the "La Strada" Center' volunteers, who have been trained for such and are coached to assure the maximum effectiveness of these activities. They were the active promoters of the National Informational Campaign “Lilya 4-ever”, during wich organized 200 seminars for the at-risk group (February – June 2004) for around 7000 young people. |
