The percentage of boys, assisted by the Drop-in-Center is bigger, than in the cases of adults.
AGE OF THE VICTIM
According to statistics, the age of the victim is increasing; the oldest person assisted by the Drop-in-Center was trafficked, being 65 years old.
FAMILY STATUS
Main cause of divorce is abuse suffered from the husbands, still around 45% of married women report physical or psychological abuse from their husbands.
72% of the beneficiaries mentioned abuse suffered within their family (parents)
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE RECRUITER
Around 66% of the victims were recruited by the people they knew (friends/boyfriends, relatives/parents).
34% either contacted people they did not know before or applied for some agencies.
RECRUITMENT METHOD
While majority of the persons were recruited by use of false job promises, 12% include those who were trapped into trafficking because of false invitation, false marriage, false travel arrangements or even while travelling.
TYPE OF EXPLOITATION vs OFFER
Most often made offers were related to domestic, physical, agricultural works,
which ended in sexual and other types of exploitation
DESTINATION COUNTRY vs PROMISED COUNTRY
The most attractive offers were: work in EU and some EU candidate countries, being followed by job offers in Russia.
But the destination countries differ: for EU – from 34% (promised) to 22%, and for EU candidate countries – from 22% to 33%.
In last 2 years the biggest number of victims was registered in Russia, Turkey and UAE
RESIDENCE ZONE
Majority of people recruited and trafficked come from rural areas and small towns of Moldova, and the most “attractive” regions are: Chisinau and Transnistria
